Lightning storms happen quickly and are exciting to observe from Cape Royal as they travel from rim to rim. Due to the sheer magnitude of the Grand Canyon, thunderstorms may rage on one side as the sun is shining on the other. Canyon depths are enhanced by light rays that filter through the clouds.
