SAN JUAN RANGE

Framed by glowing yellow aspen trees, the snow-covered San Juan Range creates a striking skyline of magnificent peaks as seen near Telluride. These mountains encompass an area larger than the state of Vermont. According to journals of the Dominguez-Escalante Expedition, the San Juans were first described by these Spanish explorers in 1776.
