Extending along the California-Nevada border, Death Valley's Grapevine Mountains become the prominent feature outlining the Amargosa Desert. After crossing this extensive parched desert environment, where temperature extremes can reach over 12O°F, a road snakes through the Bullfrog Hills and Titus Canyon opening onto the vast Mesquite Flat Sand Dunes.
