GRAND CANYON STORM

Just after a summer thunderstorm, clouds linger within the Canyon in a cloak of mystique. A calm has settled over this vastness. Summer monsoons bring daily thundershowers. Morning skies are clear blue, but as the sun heats the Canyon, convection currents lift monsoonal humid air into the troposphere. The result is a buildup of towering cumulonimbus clouds and sudden torrential lightning storms.
