Fresh snow gracefully decorates boughs along the rim at Mather Point. In 1857, the Ives Expedition encountered the "Big Cañon" and Ives described this magnificent landscape as "unrivaled in grandeur." Expanding 277 miles in length and averaging 10 miles across, the immensity of the Grand Canyon is almost beyond comprehension.
