INDIAN POND

Just north of Yellowstone lake near Fishing Bridge, Indian Pond is the historic name for what was once called Squaw lake. It was a favorite camping ground for Indians. In 1880, Park Superintendent Norris named it Indian Pond. During the 1920's, it was renamed as Squaw Lake. The name Indian Pond was restored in 1981.
