CRATERS OF THE MOON NATIONAL MONUMENT

Flowering plants sprout quickly after periods of precipitation or snowmelt creating a cinder garden. Seemingly barren porous lava fields across Craters of the Moon are transformed into an unbelievable display of wildflowers. Buckwheat, dwarf monkey-flower and bitterroot are a few of the many park plant species.
