MISSOURI-YELLOWSTONE CONFLUENCE

Excitement grew within the Corps of Discovery upon nearing the confluence of the Missouri and the Yellowstone River. Lewis recorded, "...I ascended the hills whence I had a most pleasing view of the country particularly of the wide and fertile valleys formed by the Yellowstone and Missouri Rivers."
