Lake Tahoe Winter

As winter sets in, the deep, blue water of Lake Tahoe is contrasted with snow-capped peaks that encircle the lake. Still uncertain as to its origin, Tahoe was recorded by John C. Fremont as two Washoe Indian words Ð "Tah-ve," a word signifying snow. The Washoe referred to it as "Da ow a ga," or edge of the lake.
