TWENTY-MULE TEAM

Teams of 2 horses and 18 mules pulled 30-ton wagons loaded with borax and water from Furnace Creek to Mojave on the historic 165-mile journey. These twenty-mule team wagons were an impressive sight back in the 1880's. Left as castaways of the desert, the wagons are all that remain to tell the stories of life's struggles for survival within Death Valley.
