Crater Lake

An old snag stands resolutely on the rim overlooking Crater Lake. This area is a fiery remnant formed by the collapse of a volcano. The brilliant azure-blue lake outlined by stark, volcanic rock layers fills only half the caldron. Established in 1902, Crater Lake National Park encompasses 183,180 acres.
