Western Coneflower

Characterized by its dark brown cylindrical head and conspicuous drooping bright yellow rayflowers, the Western coneflower is a distinctive plant. It flourishes in moist soils on stream banks or woodland meadows. Often called rudbeckia, the coneflower can be discovered in mountain environments from 5,000 to 8,000 feet.
