Kawuneeche Valley

An early snowstorm transforms a forest setting from fall into winter. Located along the western slope of Rocky Mountain National Park, this valley is not only the headwaters for the Colorado River, but also has a colorful mining heritage. The promise of "get-rich-quick" brought hoards of prospectors into this region in the late 1870's.
