CENTURY PLANTS

As late afternoon shadows begin to hide the Crimson Cliffs, a cluster of young century plants share a spot in the sun. Century plants are so named because it takes over 25 years for the plants to flower. A flowering stalk can reach 12-18 feet tall. After it blooms, the century plant then withers and dies.
