Cushion Cactus

Small vibrant pink flowers grace the top of this pin cushion-shaped cactus. Look for the cactus growing on rocky desert slopes among sagebrush-juniper forests. Its knitted spines discourage many small animals from nibbling on this plant. The cushion cactus enhances Sedona Valley in springtime.
