Cannon Beach

As white-ribboned surf patterns this dramatic coastline, late afternoon sun accentuates the Coastal Range and Haystack Rock. The seven-mile sandy shores of Cannon Beach encompass Crescent Beach, which is punctuated by large stone monoliths. Named for a small cannon that drifted ashore from a shipwrecked schooner in 1846, this beach is located 26 miles south of Astoria.
