GREAT SAND DUNES

At sunset, artistically shadowed Great Sand Dunes resiliently wait for the dawn's first gust of wind. These dunes are some of the tallest dunes in North America. Blown across the desert floor by the prevailing winds, sand grains are continually dropped at the base of a mighty barrier, the Sangre de Cristo Mountains.
