GREAT SALT LAKE

Viewed from rocky shores of Antelope Island, the Great Salt Lake shimmers in late afternoon sunshine. This saltwater lake is the largest body of water west of the Mississippi and perhaps, Nature's cruel joke in the arid West. Expansive marshy shores blended with shallow brine waters make the Great Salt Lake an attractive refuge for birdlife.
