Canyonlands

Peering down a sheer canyon wall, the Colorado River can be seen as it winds through Canyonlands National Park. Characteristic to Canyonlands, island mesas are formed when eroded slabs of sandstone separate from vertical cliffs and tumble into the canyon below. This produces uniquely-shaped rock creations.
