A glorious winter alpine glow casts pink hues upon St. Mary Valley. This lake is 10 miles long and about 300 feet deep. Piegan Indians named St. Mary Lake, "Walled-in Lake" a name appropriately given for this picture-perfect setting. It is one of the most photographed lakes in the world.
