FOUR-ANGLED MOUNTAIN HEATHER

A dwarf shrub that grows in dense mats near timberline, the four-angled mountain heather flourishes at high elevations. Its nodding, bell-shaped white corolla blooms in clusters atop a glandular stalk. Even though it has needle-like leaves and a miniature evergreen appearance, this plant always bears flowers; never cones.
