EASTERN FOX SQUIRREL

Rusty brown with a full orange-colored belly and bushy tail, the Eastern fox squirrel briefly pauses in the snow. It is an actively aggressive squirrel that inhabits open pine forests and hardwood tree regions. Fox squirrels spend much of their time foraging on the ground for nuts, acorns and seeds then burying them for a later snack.
