WOOD DUCK

The vividly colored wood ducks look as though nature used her full palette to paint them. Wood ducks inhabit wooded swamps and river bottoms. They thrive on the insects and aquatic plants (such as duckweed) found there. Their distinctive call sounds like a rising whistle. Natural tree cavities serve as nesting sites.
