RED MOUNTAIN PASS

Cloaked in white for winter, Red Mountain Pass is one of the few roads that penetrates the rugged San Juan Mountains. This spectacular scenic drive located between Ouray and Silverton is a tribute to the tireless efforts of Otto Mears. A pathfinder blazing many of Colorado's passes, Mears built this high mountain pass in the late l800's.
