Twenty-Mule Team

Castaways of the desert are all that is left to tell the stories of life's struggles for survival, especially in Death Valley. Twenty-mule team wagons were an impressive sight back in the 1880's. Each team (2 horses and 18 mules) pulled 30-ton wagons loaded with borax and water from Furnace Creek to Mojave, a 165-mile journey.
