A prospector's wagon stands as a remnant of the 1860s silver fever that hit Nevada with discovery of the Comstock Lode. Arriving in 1862, Samuel Clemens (Mark Twain) tried his hand at mining. After 3 weeks of working "...a little rubbishly claim of ours,'' he quit, "..and gave myself up to-solid misery..." Luckily soon after, he became city editor of the Enterprise.
