Memorializing one of the last great efforts of the Northern Plains Indians to preserve their way of life, the Battle of the Little Bighorn comes alive as one gazes across the grave markers now partially hidden by native grasses. Although the Indians defeated General Custer here in 1876, they eventually lost the centuries-long conflict.
