Visiting Yellowstone's geyser basins during the winter brings a new dimension to the word "geyser." A normal summer eruption of Old Faithful might be 150 feet. However, in the winter, it appears to be much higher and fuller. This phenomenon occurs because of the interaction between hot steaming water and icy cold air.
