Saguaro Cactus

The largest cactus in North America, the saguaro can reach a height of 50 feet and live for approximately 200 years. When the summer monsoon season arrives, the saguaro's accordion-like ridges expand to absorb water for the upcoming long, dry spell. Near Sabino Canyon Recreation Area, saguaro stands inhabit the foothills.
