These rainbow-colored rocks are really logs that became stone, or petrified wood. Petrified Forest is a unique arid grassland filled with abundant relics spanning millions of years. Fossilized bones, leaf impressions, scales, teeth and petrified logs provide dramatic evidence of ancient life in this region.
