LIZARD HEAD PEAK

Contrasting dramatically against a cobalt blue sky, Lizard Head Peak rises prominently to 13,113 feet and is a landmark in the San Miguel Range. "A peculiar pinnacle," wrote Franklin Rhoda, a Hayden survey topographer in 1874. It takes imagination to visualize the lizard head in this famous formation because the rock spire is slowly crumbling.
