Hermits Rest

At the outermost point along the West Rim, Hermits Rest provides a different perspective of the Grand Canyon. Gnarled old junipers survive this exposed rocky rim composed of fossilized sandstone. In 1891, Louis Boucher operated a small copper mine and set up an isolated camp near this area. He became known as the white-bearded hermit.
