On the North Rim, higher elevation and increased moisture support aspen growth. This stand of white-barked aspen provides an attractive contrast to the lush green undergrowth. Quaking aspen have nearly circular leaves that quiver with the slightest breeze. Growing to almost 60 ft. tall, aspen can measure 2 ft. in diameter.
