THE CANYON

Frosted by snow along the rim, the Grand Canyon is considered one of the wonders of the world. A captain in the Coronado Expedition of 1540, Don Lopez de Cardenas is credited with being the first European to view the Canyon. It was established as a national monument in 1908 and became a national park in 1919. The Grand Canyon comprises over 1900 square miles.
