The spectacular winter scenery from the west side of the Teton Range is often unseen. William H. Jackson, noted photographer of the Tetons, ascended Table Mountain on the Idaho side of the range in 1872. He loaded his mule with photographic equipment and supplies. After trekking for 9 days, Jackson finally reached what he considered the perfect viewpoint of the Grand Teton.
