BLACKFOOT VALLEY

A field of yellow flowers decorates an old rusty Potomac buck rake left as a remnant of an earlier era. This fertile ranch country of Blackfoot Valley attracted settlers in the late 1800's. They established the town of Potomac in 1884. Its first postmaster-was Robert S- Ashby and the front porch of his ranch house was used as a post office.
