LAKE MEAD

The result of Hoover Dam, Lake Mead has 822 miles of shoreline and holds 9 trillion gallons of water. The dam that created one of the world's largest lakes, Hoover Dam took 5000 workers nearly four years to complete. Once just a refuge for cottontail rabbits, road runners and bighorn sheep, Lake Mead National Recreation Area now attracts hundreds of boaters.
