TRUCKEE RIVER

A sparkling river framed by fall foliage, the Truckee River provides a scenic accent to the surrounding countryside. Early settlement of Reno emerged along the banks of this river. In 1852, the first trading post, started by H. H. Jameson, serviced pioneers traveling the Emigrant Trail. By 1859, C.W. Fuller built an inn and toll bridge.
