PRICKLY-PEAR CACTUS

With striking magenta flowers, prickly-pear cactus decorate desert and ponderosa pine environments. This species is most variable as it produces flowers from yellow to pink to red even on the same plant. Bee pollinated, prickly-pears contain pollen-laden stamens and bees must crawl beneath them to reach the nectar.
