Capitol Reef National Park

As part of the historic character within Capitol Reef, brightly colored orchard trees enhance the fall season. An early Mormon pioneer settlement, Fruita was established near the Fremont River in the late 1800's. With many of the trees still thriving today, the orchard flourished there as a result of the rich soils deposited by the river.
