Blooming wild roses enhance the boundaries along fertile green fields that extend as far as can be seen in any direction. This is The Palouse, where the once arid wasteland of the Columbia Basin was transformed by irrigation into rich, productive farmland. These are the wide-open, gently rolling plains that encompass much of Eastern Washington.
