As a summer thunderstorm brews on the horizon, it is wheat that one can see for miles and miles in any direction. This is Palouse Country, where the once arid wasteland of the Columbia Plateau was transformed by irri-gation into rich, productive farmland. These are the wide open, gently rolling plains of Eastern Washington.
