MOUNT ST. HELENS

Skeletal trees and a barren ridge define the dynamic rise of Mount St. Helens from the valley floor. A snow-laden mountain, this youngest Cascade volcano erupted in 1980. It was the largest eruption recorded in the continental United States. Now, Mount St. Helens remains semi' dormant with its shattered crater.
