Glacier Lily

This exquisite flower emerges from the moist soils of subalpine meadows soon after the snow recedes. It is also known as snow lily, fawn lily or dogtooth violet. It blooms in early spring and as late as September depending on elevation. Often found pushing through melting snow, the glacier lily is a favorite food of bear, deer, elk and bighorn sheep.
