Lupines And BalsamrootSpikes of blue lupine are often found growing among large yellow balsam-root in early spring. Hillsides can literally be covered with both these flowers. Lupine are members of the Pea Family and about 50 species exist within the West. The rayflowers have large arrow-shaped leaves covered with silvery-gray fuzz; hence, their full name, arrowleaf balsamroot. |
