BISON

Bison (buffalo) symbolize the vast grasslands and open spaces that once existed in this country. These massive animals almost became extinct with the advancement of settlers and the railroad into the western plains. Through persistent conservation management, healthy populations now exist in Yellowstone Park, the National Bison Range and private rangelands.
