Blue Gentian

This erect bell-shaped flower is a vivid bluish-purple color and often flourishes along stream-banks in mountainous terrain of Wyoming as well as other western mountain regions. Depending upon elevation and soil condi-tions, this flower blooms from July through September. Blue gentian is also called mountain gentian or explorer's gentian.
