Steaming cauldrons warm bison as they graze on the golden grasses near Midway and Lower Geyser Basins. As days grow shorter, mornings become crisp and the temperature drops at night. Yellowstone bison rejoin the herd and gather close to the geysers in preparation for the long winter.
